Quick Start: Set Up Your First eSign Document

First-time users creating an eSign template

Updated this week

Applies to: Onsight LeadGen
Who this is for: First-time users creating an eSign template
Platform: Web

Quick answer

To set up your first eSign document in Onsight, upload your PDF, name the template, place the signer fields in the PDF Builder, add any static fields you want completed before sending, and then save the template. At this time, the integrated eSign flow in LeadGen supports one signer per template.

Steps

  1. Upload your document and set the template name.
Start by uploading your PDF and entering the template name during setup.

  2. Open the PDF Builder and review the layout.
The builder has three main sections:

    • Tools: where you choose fields to place

    • Document Viewer: where the document appears

    • Inspector: where you edit the settings for a selected field

  3. Add the signer’s fields.
Open Signature & Identity quick filter in the Tools panel and drag the Signature field onto the document where the signer should sign. Use Initials where needed.

    • Signature and Initials are completed manually by the signer

    • Signer Name, Signing Date, and Signing Time are generated automatically by the system

  4. Add any fields that should be completed before sending.
If you need to sign the document yourself or pre-fill parts of the form, open PDF Tools and use the static field options. These can be used for your own signature, initials, text, check marks, or X marks. After placing them, use the Inspector to fill them out.

  5. Save the template.
Once all fields are placed and any static fields are filled out, save the template to finish setup.

Important notes

  • The integrated eSign flow in LeadGen currently supports single-signer templates, so you will only see Signer 1 in the inspector. Additional recipients cannot be added there right now.

  • Due to updated e-signature compliance requirements, Name, Company, and user signature fields can no longer be auto-filled when the document uses automatic recipient assignment and automatic sending.

  • For documents that need some information completed ahead of time, the recommended setup is to use PDF Tools for static fields first, then use the signer fields for the actual signer.

Troubleshooting

If the full document is not displaying properly in the PDF Builder, or field settings seem limited:

  • maximize the browser window

  • reduce browser zoom to 80% or 90%

  • increase screen resolution or use a larger monitor

A larger viewing area helps the builder display more of the document and gives better access to field settings after a field is placed.

If the document still does not display correctly after adjusting the screen size or zoom, contact Onsight Support with a screenshot and include whether you are on desktop or mobile and which browser you are using.
